About us...
The Shakespeare in Performance Workshops has been running at schools and colleges in the UK and The Netherlands since 2002. The use of original Shakespearean dialogue and the interaction with native English actors make the workshops particularly suitable for students within the Bilingual Learning Schemes being operated by an increasing number of schools in Europe.
Below are details of the actors taking part in this year's tour.
(Each workshop will be run by a group of three of the actors)
MARC ALEXANDER NORRIS
Marc has over 10years experience in performing and directing Shakespeare, as well as running educational workshops across a variety of subjects. He directing credits include 'Julius Caesar' at The Troubadour Club and 'Tea With Chekhov' at the CAA in Covent Garden. His Shakespearean roles have included Horatio in 'Hamlet', The Antipholus Twins in 'The Comedy of Errors', Oberon in 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' and Brutus in 'Julius Caesar'.
CASSANDRA WILSON Cassandra studied drama at Exeter University and the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts in London where she graduated in 2006. Recent Shakespeare roles include: Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, Miranda in The Tempest and Hero in Much Ado About Nothing.She has worked extensively in schools in Europe and the UK performing and leading workshops on subjects ranging from singing to Shakespeare. She loves Shakespeare and is delighted to be working with young people to bring his plays to life.
FRANCIS MOORE
Francis Moore trained at the Poor School in London and since graduating has appeared in several video and theatre productions including French-language productions. Passionate about Shakespeare, Francis has performed 'Measure for Measure' at the 'Jardin Shakespeare' in the Bois de Boulogne, Paris, and is pleased to be working with SPP to bring the Bard's work to students in the Netherlands.
JAMES HARRIS
A former member of the National Youth Theatre, James has been a big fan of both watching and performing Shakespeare from a young age. Being lucky enough to perform at the Globe Theatre in London, at the age of 16 for a School Shakespeare Festival. After finishing school he then went to Study Shakespeare at LAMDA Drama school where he played the title role of Macbeth in their yearly production. James has performed the role of Romeo while touring Germany for White Horse Theatre and also performed and taught Shakespeare to schools in the UK with MOPA Theatre. James is really excited to be a part of Shakespeare in Performance and looking forward to performing and working with the students to bring Shakespeare alive in Holland.
EMMA CARTER
Emma trained at Arts Educational School London. Previous credits include: Mrs Beaver in 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe' (Proper Job Theatre Company, The MET Theatre, Bury), Vassilisa in 'The Lower Depths' (Cogs Theatre at Barons Court Theatre), The Nurse in 'Romeo and Juliet' (Young Shakespeare Company UK tour), Dr Cantway in 'The Laramie Project' (Lost Theatre), Cecily Cardew in 'The Importance of Being Earnest' (One Off Productions, New Theatre Royal Portsmouth) and Irina in 'Three Sisters' (One Off Productions, New Theatre Royal Portsmouth). Emma is delighted to be making her debut with The Shakespeare In Performance Project.
GEORGINA BRYCE
Georgina trained at the ArtsEducationalSchool, completing a Masters Degree in Acting. She has worked regularly in classical theatre; her favourite role to date playing Lady Macbeth in a UK tour and at the National Theatre of Luxembourg. Other classical roles include Lady Capulet (Romeo and Juliet), Yelena (Uncle Vanya) and Julia Craven (The Philanderer). Georgina has worked in film and has voice-over and presenting experience. She is passionate about Shakespeare and relishes the opportunity to work with students to bring the rich language and imagery to life.
MARIE FORTUNE
Marie trained at the Arts Educational School of Acting. Since graduating she has worked consistantly taking on many classical roles including, Desdemona, Helena, Ariel and Phoebe. Earlier this year she took on the role of Graziano which was performed in German at the ETA Hoffman Theatre in Bamberg. With extensive experience leading workshops and coaching children Sarah is looking forward to sharing her love for classical theatre and is delighted to be working with the SPP team.
WILL GODFREY
Will trained at LAMDA. Since then he has performed in a number of theatre productions, including national and European tours. His classical roles have included Vindice (The Revenger's Tragedy), Octavius (Julius Caesar) and Banquo (Macbeth). He has also appeared in short films and commercials, and has wide experience of educational theatre in The Netherlands and the UK.
GARETH McCHLERY
Gareth trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.Since graduating he has appeared in numerousproductions on the fringe in London, and at the Edinburgh Festival. He has also worked on TV and incommercials. His most recent classical roles include Hamlet, Pericles and Marc Anthony. In the last 3 years Gareth has also worked for Learning Performance Training, an independant company that specialises in educational/motivational workshops for 14 to 18 year olds. This is the first time he has worked for theShakespeare in Performance Project.
